Biography
Mitchell Strong is a York based theatre maker and playwright. Born in North Wales, his love for theatre and the arts started at a young age when he attended the youth theatre program at Clwyd Theatr Cymru where he spent 10 years learning the art of performance. He moved to York in 2018 to pursue a career in the Arts through both study and practice.
As a performance artist and writer his work explores a variety of subjects. These include moving away from home (Hiraeth), the attachment of meanings and stories to everyday objects (What Do You Call a Chair?) and the absurd nature of life and death itself (Yet Here We Are). Mitchell is constantly exploring new ideas for performance and collaborating with local artists to create bring these ideas to the stage.
Mitchell has also volunteered as a theatre workshop facilitator at York Theatre Royal and the Converge Project at York St John University. As a facilitator Mitchell worked with participants to explore the devising process to tackle difficult subjects or traditional texts.
Mitchell earned his Bachelors of Arts degree – with honours from York St John University in May 2021 and is currently studying for a Master of Arts degree at the same faculty.
